How is this support different from psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a medical service that typically involves a commitment of some duration between the therapist and the client. Focus is on underlying dynamics and frequently the role of the past. Many of our volunteers are qualified therapists; however, they have agreed to provide short-term coaching/support and not psychotherapy in support of this project. The focus is on the present situation and helping to equip you with coping tools to support you as a medical professional during the Covid-19 crisis. Should they determine that psychotherapy is warranted for you, they will assist you with an appropriate referral.
Or, if you already know that you need psychotherapy, you can contact one of the other state or national sites that link workers with therapists. See the Other Resources page for more details.
